Lubavitch center to offer 'Soul Maps' course

The Lubavitch Center for Jewish Education, 770 Howes Lane, Columbia, will offer "Soul Maps," a course created by the Jewish Learning Institute to explore human psychology using insights and teachings from the Kabbalah, the ancient Jewish mystical text.

Based on the Tanya, the classic exposition of Kabbalistic concepts by 18th-century Chassidic leader Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, "Soul Maps" is designed as a six-session consultation with a master of Kabbalah and the human mind.

No background is necessary. The class is intended to present strategies for understanding the sources of guilt, conflict and confusion, revealing who each student is and can become. Its goal is to provide a road map for developing joy, purpose and direction in daily life.

The class will meet at 10 a.m. Sundays, starting Nov. 9, at the Lubavitch center. The cost is $75, and includes a text and materials. There is a 20 percent discount for family members. The first class is free.
