Maimonides: The Man, the Myth, the Magnum Opus, a sweeping multimedia presentation, introduces students to the Rambam’s inspirational life and his monumental achievement of the Mishneh Torah. After describing the Rebbe’s tremendous enthusiasm for the study of Rambam, and the traditional concept of the Siyum, participants view the text for themselves, with an engaging discussion of Rambam’s depiction of the days of Moshiach, and of the opening words of the Yad.
The class also places extra emphasis on the practical, as it concludes with a rousing call to jump on the Rambam bandwagon, as well as a grab-bag of resources for students interested in signing on to the next cycle – either in Mishneh Torah or Sefer Hamitzvos.
As the Rebbe himself would often note, participating in a Siyum is for everyone – from the novice to the 3-chapter-a-day virtuoso – and is a wonderful motivation for anyone considering jumping in and joining this deeply edifying and marvelously unifying learning program. What’s more, and especially since the fast day on Thursday might make putting on an event of this kind something of a challenge, this program can be presented within a few days of the actual Siyum – whenever is most convenient.
