Soul Maps: Chabad House sponsors Kaballah course

People are complicated. They have a warm, sensitive side and a wild, primitive side. They can act caring and nurturing one moment, and self-centered and aggressive the next. Making sense of thoughts and emotions is not easy, and people often feel conflicted and overwhelmed.
The Asheville Jewish Learning Institute, the adult education arm of The Chabad House offers Soul Maps, an ancient yet innovative approach to human psychology. Soul Maps is a six-step program, using tools from the Kabbalah to help participants understand themselves, find inner contentment and resolve guilt, conflict, and confusion. The lessons are based on Tanya, an 18th-century book that made the esoteric teachings of Kabbalah practical, relevant, and accessible.

“People struggle every day to understand themselves and find inner peace,” says Rabbi Shaya Susskind of The Chabad House. “They’ve been through every book in the self-help aisle and they visit their therapist or confide in friends to sort through their feelings. What people really need is a guide to help them navigate their own complexity, and the Kabbalah has provided these tools for centuries.”
Soul Maps is designed for people at all levels of Jewish knowledge, and participants don’t have to have any background in Jewish learning to attend this course. All JLI courses are open to the entire community and people do not need to be a member of any particular synagogue or temple to attend.
Soul Maps will be offered in the mornings and evenings at The Chabad House, for six Tuesday evenings starting Nov. 11, or for six Wednesday mornings starting Nov. 12. The $85 course fee covers textbooks and refreshments.
To register, or attend the first class free, and for the most recent information on Soul Maps, and other classes The Chabad House offers, visit www.JewishWNC.com, or contact Rabbi Susskind at 505-0746, or [email protected].
