The Rosh Chodesh Society, an international Jewish sisterhood organized by the Chabad-Lubavitch movement’s Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI), launches its newest location in Hunterdon County.

Participants may join by registering for the entire course or may chose to try month by month. The next Rosh Chodesh Society event is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 17, at 7:30 p.m. and is titled, “Rising Above: A Practical Guide to Emotional Mastery.” Rachel Kornfeld of the Chabad of Hunterdon County will be teaching this course at 90 Beaver Avenue, Clinton.

The society is a sisterhood dedicated to inspiring and empowering Jewish women through monthly cultural learning experiences. The program was founded in loving memory of Rebbetzin Rivkah Holtzberg,OB”M the Chabad emissary to Mumbai, India, who was brutally murdered by terrorists in 2008.

This year’s theme and course title is: “It's About Time: Kabbalistic Insights for Taking Charge of Your Life.” It's About Time is a practical and insightful spiritual journey toward self-mastery and living a happier, more fulfilling, and more effective life. Each of the seven once-per-month classes focuses on one aspect of personal life related to the kabbalistic energies of the month from the oldest written work of Kabbalah, Sefer Yetzirah (Book of Creation).

The aim of the course is to empower women to take action and implement change in seven key areas in their lives. Topics discussed in the course include emotional mastery, sleep and renewal, nutrition and dieting, happiness, communication skills, faith and knowledge, and how to implement lasting change.

“Combining high caliber academic teachings with personally useful real-world applications is never a simple accomplishment,” explains Rosh Chodesh Society director, Shaindy Jacobson, from its Brooklyn, N.Y. headquarters, “yet our newest course, It’s About Time, has gracefully mastered this feat with its compelling message.”

“I personally think the women of Hunterdon County will absolutely adore the course,” said Rachel Kornfeld, facilitator for the society. “It is full of humor, wit, and many personal insights that will resonate deeply and are just so profoundly practical.”

It’s About Time’s seven sessions will draw from a broad spectrum of mystical and classical Jewish texts, allowing students to test drive the wisdom of the ages, providing intellectually stimulating and inspiring motivational sessions of personal relevance to any woman alive today.

Participants may join by registering for the entire course or may chose to try month by month. The first class titled the Kabbalah of Sleep took place on Monday, Nov. 18, and more than 20 women registered and attended the evening.

It’s About Time, like all of JLI’s courses, is designed for people at all levels of Jewish knowledge. Participants without any prior experience or background in Jewish learning can attend and enjoy this course. All courses are open to the public, and attendees need not be a member of any particular synagogue or temple.

Courses are presented in Hunterdon County under the auspices of Chabad of Hunterdon County and is supported by a grant from Dr. and Mrs. Gary Shangold Tewksbury.
