Sign up for the Rosh Chodesh Society's ‘Larger Than Life’ course
A new course for women, “Larger Than Life,” explores the key Jewish values that have shaped the moral compass of Western society and were so influential in molding that civilization.
“’Larger Than Life’ presents not only the wisdom of the ages, but, most importantly, focuses on areas outside the domain of the synagogue and Jewish ritual,” Rosh Chodesh Society Director Shaindy Jacobson said. “The lessons examine and highlight what it means to live as a Jew in ‘the rest of our life.’ How are we expected to interact with the world around us? What does it mean to live Jewish even as we post on social media, shop, go to the office, and find ourselves wedged into the sandwich generation?”
The Rosh Chodesh Society, the women’s division of the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute, is launching the seven-session series for women.
Expected to be taught in more than 200 locations across the globe, the classes aim to shine a spotlight on the Torah view of our social and ethical responsibilities and guide us in how to live larger than life by weaving God into every detail.
The course will be taught once per month for seven consecutive months and is designed for women at all levels of Jewish knowledge.
“This course allows us to take the sacred and infuse it into our daily lives. From the important issues to the minor and mundane, it affords us the gift of bringing personal relevance to what we face, and often struggle with, every day,” said Rebbetzin Chanie Wolowik, of the Chabad of the Five Towns, a facilitator for the Society. “In a world that can seem unsettling at times, the heart and soul infused into these life lessons create a beautiful marriage between the practical and the sublime.”
Wolowik will be teaching “Larger Than Life” at the Five Towns Chabad at 74 Maple Ave. Cedarhurst, beginning Monday, Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. To register, contact (516) 295-2478 or go to www.ChabadFiveTowns.com for more information.
