This November, the Rosh Chodesh Society — the women’s division of the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute — launches its latest course, Larger Than Life, a new seven-session series for women.

Slated to run in over 200 locations across the globe, Larger Than Life promises to shine a spotlight on the Torah view of our social and ethical responsibilities, and guide us in how to live larger than life by weaving G-d into every detail.

“Larger Than Life presents not only the wisdom of the ages, but, most importantly, focuses on areas outside the domain of the synagogue and Jewish ritual,” says Rosh Chodesh Society Director Shaindy Jacobson. “The lessons examine and highlight what it means to live as a Jew in ‘the rest of our life.’ How are we expected to interact with the world around us? What does it mean to live Jewish even as we post on social media, shop, go to the office, and find ourselves wedged into the sandwich generation?”

The course will be taught once per month for seven consecutive months and is designed for women at all levels of Jewish knowledge.

“This course allows us to take the sacred and infuse it into our daily lives. From the important issues to the minor and mundane, it affords us the gift of bringing personal relevance to what we face, and often struggle with, every day,” says Esti Paltiel of Chabad of Port Washington, facilitator for the society. “In a world that can seem unsettling at times, the heart and soul infused into these life lessons create a beautiful marriage between the practical and the sublime.”

The Rosh Chodesh Society is an international Jewish sisterhood that aims to connect, empower, and inspire Jewish women through monthly Jewish learning and cultural experiences. For more information on Larger Than Life, visit www.chabadpw.org/RCS.

Paltiel will be teaching Larger Than Life at Chabad of Port Washington (80 Shore Road) on one Tuesday evening each month, starting Nov. 6. Anyone interested is welcome to call 516-767-8672 or visit www.chabadpw.org/RCS for more information.
