Rabbi Levi Lezell has been teaching since moving to the South Shore in 2015, but now he’s taking it to a new level. This summer, Lezell traveled to New York to attend a series of inaugural training seminars in advance of the upcoming launch of the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute.

“At the heart of Jewish culture, there has always been Jewish learning -- an engaged and vibrant meeting of minds,” said Lezell. “We’re excited to be able to bring this open and interactive learning environment to our community.”

JLI uses cutting-edge pedagogic techniques to unlock the wisdom and life messages found within Judaism’s ancient texts, according to Lezell.

This month, JLI will offer “Wrestling with Faith.”

“We recognize that almost everyone has some degree of skepticism when it comes to religion,” said Lezell. “We’ve created this course for participants to think critically about these challenges -- to approach them with an array of insightful perspectives -- so we can articulate our beliefs to ourselves and to the next generation with clarity and conviction.”

The six-session course will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Oct. 30 at the Cohasset Harbor inn, 124 Elm St., Cohasset. The first session is free. Cost for the course is $85, with a discount for couples.

The course in February will be “Crime and Consequence,” and in May, “With All My Heart.”

The courses are offered concurrently in over 360 communities spanning five continents, allowing students to begin and continue a course whether at home or away.

Like all JLI programs, this course is designed to appeal to people at all levels of knowledge, including those without any prior experience or background in Jewish learning. All JLI courses are open to the public, and attendees need not be a member of any synagogue or temple to attend.
